
The two companies will focus on the urgent delivery of the Vulcano 155mm precision-guided ammunition system, a next-generation long-range artillery shell designed for enhanced accuracy and effectiveness.
Reliance Defence also announced plans to establish a greenfield manufacturing facility for the Vulcano system in the Watad Industrial Area in Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra. The facility is expected to support domestic production under India’s ‘Make in India’ and defence indigenisation initiatives.
“This strategic collaboration underscores our commitment to strengthening India’s defence capabilities with state-of-the-art technology,” Reliance Defence said in a statement.
The Indian government has been encouraging greater private sector participation and foreign partnerships in the defence sector to reduce reliance on imports and boost domestic manufacturing.
Diehl Defence is part of the German technology group Diehl Stiftung & Co. KG and specialises in advanced defence systems, including precision-guided munitions, air defence and ammunition.
Shares of Reliance Infrastructure ended 3.5% higher at a price of ₹404.40 on the BSE today.
