
The Divisional Commissioner of Jammu shared the update on X (formerly Twitter) stating that all schools, colleges and educational institutions will remain closed.
“In view of the prevailing situation all Schools, Colleges & educational institutions (private as well as Government) in the districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch will remain closed,” it said.

India launched precision target strikes in the early hours of May 7, in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. It struck nine terrorist base camps in the action in response to deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, that claimed 26 lives.
In light of escalating tensions following India’s military operation against Pakistan, several regions along the Indo-Pak border have implemented precautionary measures, including those of closing down schools and airports, among others.
Schools to remain close in Punjab
Due to the heightened tensions, schools in the border districts of Punjab were shut on May 7 and will remain closed on May 8.

In Punjab, Ferozepur Deputy Commissioner issued an order for a 72-hour closure if all schools in the district, as well as educational institutions in Pathankot.
Schools in other districts including Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and Fazilka have followed suit.
Jodhpur closes schools until further ordersÂ
In Rajasthan, schools in the border districts of Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Barmer were closed on May 7 for safety reasons, and are expected to remain closed.
Meanwhile, schools have been closed in Jodhpur until further orders. “In view of the Jodhpur administration announces holiday in all private and government schools and Anganwadis from today till further orders,” said District Collector Gaurav Agarwal, as per PTI.

Kashmir University postponed exams
The University of Kashmir postponed all exams scheduled for May 7. The Assistant Controller of Examinations had issued a notification stating, “All the examinations scheduled for today, i.e, 07.05.2025, stand postponed. Fresh dates for the conduct of postponed papers shall be notified separately.”
