
Gurgaon: A 65-year-old man died after being hit by a car while crossing the road in Udyog Vihar Phase 3 on Monday morning. “The incident occurred 25-50 metres away from DLF Cyber Park,” a police officer said.Samson Samuel, a resident of Chattarpur in Delhi, was on his way to his workplace in Udyog Vihar Phase 5, where he was employed as a steward at a hotel. Samuel alighted from a bus near Ambience Mall and was crossing the road towards Udyog Vihar when the car struck him. The impact caused severe injuries, particularly to his head and arm.“The grey Hyundai Santro hit him from the side, leading to a fracture in his hand. The windscreen impact caused critical head injuries,” the officer added. The driver of the car took Samuel to Narayana Hospital in DLF Phase 3 immediately after the accident. However, doctors declared him dead during treatment.Samuel’s son, Johnson, said the family was informed about the incident through a call from the hospital. Citing eyewitness accounts, he added that his father crossed nearly 75% of the road when the “speeding car” hit him.When police reached the spot, the victim was already shifted to the hospital. A crime team and forensic experts inspected the site, and evidence was collected. An FIR was being registered under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the BNS, the officer added.Police said a notice will be served to the driver as part of the legal process, and further action will follow based on the investigation. The body was sent for autopsy and was later handed over to the family for last rites. Meanwhile, police are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas.Bike rider hit, dies: In another case, a motorcycle rider succumbed to injuries two days after a hit-and-run accident near Panchgaon toll on the KMP route, police said on Monday.Bharat Singh, a resident of Ward 10 in Pahad Colony, used to run a medical shop in Kasan village. The accident took place on April 11 around 4 pm when he was on his way home to Sohna from Kasan on his motorcycle.A complaint said that an unidentified vehicle hit Bharat Singh approximately 1km ahead of Panchgaon toll. The driver of the vehicle fled the spot after the incident. Passers-by alerted emergency services, following which an ambulance shifted the injured man to a private hospital in Rewari for treatment. He remained under medical care but succumbed to his injuries on April 13. A case was registered under Sections 106 and 281 at Bilaspur police station.
