Police registered a case against the driver of actor-turned-politician Vijay’s campaign vehicle in connection with an accident that allegedly occurred en route to his September 27 Karur rally, where a stampede later claimed 41 lives and injured around 60 people.
According to police, the campaign bus of Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has also been named in the FIR. The case pertains to an incident in which several of the actor’s fans, riding motorcycles close to the convoy to catch a glimpse of him, reportedly met with an accident involving the campaign vehicle.
A video purportedly showing the incident went viral on social media and was aired by several television channels, sparking widespread debate.
