
Keonjhar: Three members of a family died in a road accident on NH-20 near Kalimati Kumuda Chhak under Ghasipura police station limits on Wednesday evening, casting a shadow over Keonjhar’s ‘Zero Accident Day’ campaign.The deceased were identified as Redu Munda, 30, his wife Sukuti Munda, 23, and their one-and-a-half-year-old daughter of Colony Sahi in Chamuin village under Ghasipura police station limits. The family was returning home on a motorcycle after visiting Sukuti’s father at Dukhabahali Sahi in Uperdiha gram panchayat when the accident took place around 6 pm.An SUV, reportedly speeding from Ghasipura towards Ghatagaon, collided head-on with their bike near Kalimati Kumuda chowk. The child died on the spot while Sukuti was rushed to Ghatgaon community health centre was declared dead on arrival. Redu, critically injured, was shifted to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital, where he died on Thursday morning.

Locals said the motorcycle was on the wrong side of the road at the time of the crash.
