The initiative seems to be a push by the UAE to become a global hub and attract top talent, by offering 10-year self-sponsored residency, family benefits, and a streamlined application process. “This entertainment hub will bring economic, cultural, and social benefits not only to the state but to the country as a whole,” an official involved in the programme’s rollout was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
Indians, one of the UAE’s largest expatriate communities, stand to gain significantly from the latest initiative. The visa provides greater work flexibility, lifestyle stability, and long-term planning without the need for employer sponsorship.

Overall, eligibility for the Golden Visa now spans ten categories, including investors with a minimum AED 2 million investment, entrepreneurs with startups valued at AED 500,000 or more, highly qualified professionals including scientists, researchers, executives, and athletes, as well as frontline workers. The five new categories include nurses with over 15 years of experience, teachers and university faculty, digital content creators, e-sports professionals aged 25 and above, and luxury yacht owners with vessels over 40 metres.
The application process has been made digital and user-friendly. Applicants can begin by checking their eligibility on the ICP or GDRFA Dubai websites. Required documentation includes a passport, academic qualifications, proof of income or investment, accreditation letters, and service certificates where applicable. Applications are submitted via the ICP Smart or GDRFA app, with fees ranging from AED 2,800 to AED 4,000. Once submitted, applicants undergo a medical test and biometric registration and typically receive approval along with their Emirates ID within 30 days.
Successful applicants can then sponsor their families, including spouses, children, and domestic help, without the need for additional investment. Those already in the UAE can adjust their status, while others can enter the country and complete the visa stamping process upon arrival.
