The funding aims to advance skill development initiatives and provide industry-relevant opportunities for youth.
The government has announced several key initiatives with a focus on equipping youth with industry-relevant skills and fostering entrepreneurship among marginalised communities.
PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 (PMKVY 4.0): The latest phase of the flagship PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana focuses on demand-driven skill development. It aims to provide training and certification to youth in industry-relevant skills, with an emphasis on short-term training, upskilling, and reskilling. This initiative is designed to meet the evolving needs of various industries and enhance the employability of India’s workforce.
PM National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (PM-NAPS): To facilitate the school-to-work transition, the PM-NAPS offers financial incentives to industries for engaging apprentices. This programme ensures hands-on experience for youth in both manufacturing and services sectors, in accordance with the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961. It aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical workplace skills.
Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) for Skill Development: Targeting marginalised groups, the Jan Shikshan Sansthan initiative provides community-based skill training, with a particular focus on women and rural youth. The programme promotes self-employment and local entrepreneurship by offering flexible training opportunities directly at the doorstep of trainees, empowering them to build sustainable livelihoods.
With these initiatives, the government aims to create a skilled workforce, foster entrepreneurship, and drive economic growth.
