
The Buildathon is an important step towards achieving the ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ vision of a developed India by 2047. The registration for Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 will close on October 6.

Students, teachers and schools across the country are invited to participate wholeheartedly in this effort. It is more than just a competition; it is a platform for demonstrating creativity, invention, and problem-solving abilities on a national and international scale.
Top-performing schools and student teams will be recognised with prizes and will receive long-term support through corporate adoption, mentorship, and resources to further develop their innovations.
“The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 is a clarion call to students to dream big, innovate fearlessly, and contribute to India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. Every school and every student are invited to take part in this movement, showcase their talent, and make their mark as the innovators of tomorrow,” the Ministry of Education said in a press release.
Themes of Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025
Participating students will work around four themes of national importance:
Atmanirbhar Bharat: Building self-reliant systems and solutions for India.
Swadeshi: Promoting indigenous ideas and innovation.
Vocal for Local: Promoting local products, crafts, and resources.
Samriddhi: Creating pathways to prosperity and sustainable growth
Key features of the Buildathon
Students will collaborate to innovate in what is expected to be the world’s largest innovation event.
Students will also be able to gain practical experience in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020.
The event will be an inclusive affair, with a special focus on engaging students from Aspirational Districts, Tribal, and Remote Regions.
Timeline of events
Launch: The Buildathon was launched on September 23, 2025.
Registrations: The registrations began on September 23 and are open till today, October 6.
Preparatory activities: These activities will take place from October 6 to October 12, 2025.
Nationwide Live Buildathon: The main live event is scheduled for October 13, 2025, across all schools.
Submission of entries: Schools are required to submit entries in the form of photos and videos between October 14 and October 31, 2025.
Evaluation of entries: Judging by a national panel of experts is planned for November 2025.
Announcement of winners: The top winners are scheduled to be announced in December 2025.
How to apply
Schools can register their students for this nationwide innovation movement team online till today (Monday). Each school must send images and videos of student-developed prototypes.
These will be assessed by a national panel of specialists. Shortlisted teams will not only earn awards but also receive long-term mentorship and corporate assistance to further strengthen their innovations.
According to the ministry’s eligibility criteria for uniform participation, a team must consist of five to seven members, multiple teams can be from a single school, teachers will act as mentors guiding the students, and entries must be submitted as concept work, working models, or prototypes.
