Despite ongoing market turbulence, Quant Mutual Fund’s Sandeep Tandon is betting heavily on select sectors such as power, pharma and BFSI, arguing they offer strong long-term opportunities even in a volatile environment.
Speaking at CNBC-TV18’s Market Townhall, Tandon said energy remains a key theme, particularly with the rise of data centres. “If you want to play the data centre story, power is a key theme… energy is a major opportunity, and we have significant exposure there,” he noted.
He also flagged pharma as an attractive space, especially among generics players, though he cautioned that input cost pressures linked to crude derivatives could weigh on some companies. “Stock selection is important,” he said.
Tandon added that BFSI, including private sector banks, insurance, asset and wealth management firms, continues to present structural growth opportunities.
While he sees pockets of value in consumption due to underperformance, he remains cautious on manufacturing amid demand and cost uncertainties, saying exposure to the sector has been reduced until visibility improves.
