Within two days, the residences of two former ministers — Jogi Ramesh and Ambati Rambabu — were attacked, prompting the Opposition to accuse the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of orchestrating a “planned strategy” to intimidate political rivals.
The house of former minister Jogi Ramesh at Ibrahimpatnam near Vijayawada was vandalised and partially set on fire on February 1, a day after violence was reported outside the residence of former minister and YSRCP Guntur district in-charge Ambati Rambabu, as per news agency ANI.
Hundreds of alleged TDP supporters gathered at Ramesh’s residence, ransacked the premises, damaged household items, and torched parts of the house, leaving residents in panic, as per ANI.

YSRCP leaders alleged that the attacks reflected a broader pattern of political intimidation. “Back-to-back attacks on former ministers within two days point to a complete breakdown of law and order and reflect a pattern of political intimidation,” unnamed party leaders were quoted as saying by ANI.
Jogi Ramesh’s residence vandalised
A group of people, believed to be TDP activists, raised slogans against Jogi Ramesh, alleging that he had made objectionable remarks against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, reported The Hindu.
The group allegedly removed banners outside his house, entered the premises, damaged furniture and glass panes, and set a portion of the house on fire.

Stone-pelting and arson were also reported during the attack and Ramesh’s wife and father were reportedly inside the house at the time. They were later rescued by the police, as per The Indian Express.
Attack on Ambati Rambabu
The violence followed an incident in Guntur on the night of Saturday, January 31, when TDP workers allegedly targeted the house and office of Ambati Rambabu.
A large group of TDP activists damaged the premises, vandalised vehicles, and set some of them on fire. Police subsequently tightened security at Rambabu’s residence, as per ANI.
The protest was triggered by alleged abusive remarks attributed to Rambabu against Chief Minister Naidu. TDP workers demanded a public apology, warning of legal action if he failed to comply. A heavy police deployment was required to control the situation, as per ANI.
Rambabu was later arrested and sent to a 14 day judicial remand, the YSR party said in a statement.

YSRCP spokesperson Syamala, in an official statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), said the incidents proved the state had slipped into “complete lawlessness”, adding that “within just two days, three former ministers and two former MLAs have been targeted”.
She alleged that the attacks were being carried out “as a planned strategy” under the current leadership of Andhra CM N Chandrababu Naidu and the execution of minister Nara Lokesh.
Syamala called for immediate intervention, including the deployment of central forces in Andhra Pradesh.
