The board will be considering a bonus issue of shares for its shareholders. Alongside that, it will also be considering a special dividend.
This comes after HDFC Bank received ₹10,000 crore as part of its partial stake sale in its non-bank lending arm HDB Financial Services, during the latter’s IPO.
HDFC Bank has never issued bonus shares to its shareholders based on the records available on BSE. This will be the first such instance.
The only prior corporate actions carried out by the lender was a stock split in 2011, when it split one share of ₹10 into five shares of ₹2, and later split that one share of ₹2 into two shares of ₹1 each in 2019.
HDFC Bank had last paid a dividend of ₹22 per share last month to its shareholders, following a final dividend of ₹19.5 per share in May 2024, ₹19 per share in May 2023 and ₹15.5 per share in May 2022.
Shares of HDFC Bank ended at the lowest point of the day on Friday, closing 1.6% lower at ₹1,956. The stock has risen only 1.1% in the last one month, and is up 10% so far in 2025.
