
Samvardhana Motherson had announced a 1:2 bonus issue along with its fourth quarter results in May this year. This means, shareholders who had the shares of the company as of Thursday’s close, will be eligible to receive one bonus share for every two shares that they own.
For example, if a shareholder has 100 shares of Samvardhana Motherson, he will receive 50 shares as bonus, taking the total count to 150 shares. The stock price will also adjust in proportion.
Samvardhana Motherson is a record holder for being the non-Nifty company having announced the most number of bonus issues for its shareholders.
According to data available, Samvardhana Motherson announced bonus shares in 1997, 2000, 2005, 2007, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022. This is the 11th instance in the last three decades that the company has issued bonus shares.
In all of the previous instances, bonus shares have been issued in the 1:2 ratio.
Samvardhana Motherson is yet to disclose its June quarter results. The stock ended 0.25% lower at ₹153.8. The stock has remained flat through 2025.
